Karen
Office Manager

Karen is a long-term North Shore resident and Certified Dental Assistant, graduated from Vancouver Community College in 1984. She spent her career in private practice in North and West Vancouver and has served as Office Manager at Canyon Dental since 2006.
She completed the prosthodontic module in 1998, the orthodontic module in 2003, and obtained Invisalign certification in 2008. From 1991–2004, Karen contributed to the Certified Dental Assistant Examination Board at the College of Dental Surgeons as a session facilitator and clinical examiner.
In her spare time, she enjoys organizing events and dinner parties, and spending time with family, friends, and her dog, Pepper. Karen is excited to be part of the Canyon Dental team.

Zahra received her dental receptionist certificate from BCIT. She works as a dental receptionist and has a passion for dentistry as her father was a dentist for 30 years. She loves to be able to interact with the patients and looks at each day as an opportunity to learn new and exciting things.
In her spare time, she likes to spend time with her family and friends, reading books, and watching movies.

My name is Azadeh Abedini, and I am responsible for sterilization at Canyon Clinic. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Physics and immigrated to Canada with my family from Iran. I truly care about the health and well-being of our patients and am dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of safety in the clinic. To enhance my skills, I have completed several online courses in infection prevention and control, which help me ensure a clean and safe environment for everyone.
I also value teamwork and collaboration. I always do my best to support my colleagues, especially dental assistants and hygienists, so that together we can provide the best possible care for our patients.

Mira
Dental Hygienist

Mira is a Registered Dental Hygienist who has been caring for patients at Canyon Dental Centre since 2001. After graduating with Honours from the University of Manitoba in 1992, she built a career focused on preventive care, patient education, and helping people feel comfortable and confident about their oral health.
Her experience includes private practice, public health, and long-term care, as well as community outreach through Special Olympics dental screening programs and volunteer work with the Disabled Skiers Association of BC.
Mira speaks English and Polish fluently and enjoys travel, photography, hiking, and salsa dancing. She is committed to providing thoughtful, personalized care for every patient she meets.
Cariza
Dental Hygienist

Cariza came from Winnipeg, Manitoba, and received her diploma from the Vancouver College of Dental Hygiene in 2015 with High Honours. During her Dental Hygiene program, she was recognized for the CDHBC’s Highest Overall Achievement and presented with Hu-Friedy’s Golden Scaler Award.
Educating her patients about their oral health is her top priority. Cariza’s favourite part about being a dental hygienist is the friendships she creates with all her patients.
Outside of practicing Dental Hygiene, Cariza enjoys running along the Seawall, taking a hot Pilates class, and checking out the exciting food scene all around the city.
Rachel
Dental Hygienist

Rachel is dedicated to helping others feel confident in their smiles and oral health. Previously a receptionist at the same clinic, Rachel was inspired by the dedicated hygienists she worked with, which motivated her to pursue a career in dental hygiene.
In 2020, Rachel graduated from the Sauder School of Business, bringing a unique combination of professionalism and compassion to her clinical practice. In 2025, she was honored as the BCDHA Student Award of Excellence winner and received the Vancouver College of Dental Hygiene Clinical Excellence Award, recognizing her dedication to both patient care and clinical achievement.
Rachel is passionate about ensuring individuals feel confident in their smiles and is committed to promoting lifelong oral health for every patient she meets. In her free time she loves exercising, spending time with her family and friends, and cuddles with her dog, Pepper.

Jessica has been a dedicated member of the Canyon Dental Centre team since 2000. She graduated as a Certified Dental Assistant from Vancouver Community College, where she also spent eight years as an instructor, sharing her knowledge and passion for the profession.
Jessica is known for her compassionate and caring approach, and she is committed to helping patients feel comfortable while improving their oral health and overall well-being. She takes pride in creating positive experiences for every patient she meets.
Jessica lives on the North Shore with her husband and three children. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family.

Shahzrad

Shahrzad graduated as a Computer Software Engineer in Shiraz, Iran, and immigrated to Canada in 2021. She became a Certified Dental Assistant from CDI College in 2019 and extended her skills by completing the Orthodontic module.
Shahzrad has worked in various dental offices around the North Shore and has learned many new skills along the way.
She is very friendly, passionate about her job; positive, organized and enjoys helping others. Her best quality is making patients feel comfortable in the chair. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, hiking and travelling.
